Parveen Shakir was a renowned Urdu poet and civil servant in Pakistan. Born in 1952 in Karachi, she started writing poetry at a young age and became known for her unique style and voice. Her work often explored themes of love, feminism, and social issues, and was admired for its lyrical and emotional depth. Shakir was the first woman in Pakistan to receive the prestigious Adamjee Literary Award for her contribution to literature, and her work continues to be widely read and appreciated today. Unfortunately, she passed away in a tragic car accident in 1994 at the age of 42, but her legacy as one of the most prominent female voices in Urdu poetry lives on.
